The complete ABB Hafonorm series of consumer units: 81 pre-wired units, single-phase and three-phase, from 2 to 12 circuits, with residual current devices or RCBOs, main switch, cooker circuit and bell transformer. Hafonorm is the standard in Dutch meter cupboards. Delivery time 2-3 working days; would you also like the unit installed and inspected? Request a quotation including installation.
Which consumer unit do I need?
The number of circuits and phases depends on the size of the home and on heavy consumers (induction hob, heat pump, EV charger). Keep 1-2 circuits in reserve.
| Type | Suitable for | Version | Price incl. VAT |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single-phase 4 circuits | Flat or small home without electric cooking | 2 residual current devices + main switch | from €385 |
| Single-phase 6 circuits | Terraced house; with cooker circuit for induction | 2 residual current devices + main switch | from €435 |
| Single-phase 8-9 circuits | Family home with many circuits | 2-3 residual current devices + main switch | from €499 |
| Three-phase 6-9 circuits | Home with heat pump, EV charger or three-phase induction | 2-3 residual current devices + 4-pole main switch | from €529 |
| Three-phase 10-12 circuits | Large home, all-electric with EV charger | 3 residual current devices + 4-pole main switch | from €689 |
Why ABB Hafonorm?
For decades Hafonorm has been the meter cupboard system of Dutch installers: modular and expandable, standard meter board size and compatible with all ABB System pro M compact components.
Completely pre-wired
Main switch, residual current devices and miniature circuit breakers are factory-fitted and wired.
With RCBOs
Each circuit has its own residual current protection: in the event of a fault only that circuit trips.
Cooker circuit and bell transformer
Versions with single-phase or three-phase cooker circuit and built-in bell transformer for the doorbell.
Interiors
Replace only the interior in an existing Hafonorm enclosure, including cover.
Frequently asked questions
What is the delivery time of an ABB Hafonorm consumer unit?
We supply most units within 2-3 working days: we order the unit from our electrical supplier and forward it to you immediately on receipt. Two frequently requested units (single-phase 6 circuits and three-phase 9 circuits) come straight from stock. Would you like the unit installed? Our engineers replace and inspect the meter cupboard in accordance with NEN 1010; request a quotation.
Which residual current device do I need?
Type A 30 mA is sufficient for ordinary circuits (lighting, sockets, dishwasher). For an EV charger NEN 1010 requires a Type B 30 mA , or a Type A if the EV charger itself has 6 mA DC leakage current detection. For a consumer unit with induction: at least 2 residual current devices (functional separation NEN 1010 §531.3.1.1).
Do I need a three-phase connection?
Not as standard. Three-phase is only needed for heavy consumers >25A: a 22 kW EV charger, all-electric heat pump 6+ kW, or three-phase induction. For most homes with a single-phase heat pump and 7.4 kW EV charger, single-phase 35A is sufficient. The grid operator charges €350–€650 for an upgrade to three-phase 25A.
May I install switchgear myself?
For safety reasons, leave work on the consumer unit or the fixed installation to a qualified installer; new installations must comply with NEN 1010. Permitted: replacing switch/socket fronts (same location, same type) when the installation is de-energised. For consumer unit extensions, EV charger connections or heat pumps: a qualified installer.
How do I know which cable size I need?
Cable size (in mm²) depends on the circuit fuse and cable route. Standard: 2,5 mm² for 16A circuits (sockets), 1,5 mm² for a 10A circuit (lighting), 4 mm² for 25A (heavy machines), 6 mm² for 40A (three-phase EV charger 22 kW up to 15 m). For longer routes, go up 1 cable size.
What is the difference between Niko Pure and Busch-Jaeger Future?
Niko Pure is a Belgian brand with modern sleek cover plates (€8–€18 per switch). Busch-Jaeger Future is a German premium range with a larger colour palette and possible KNX integration (€12–€28). Both are compatible with the common back box modules (60 mm).
When should I replace my consumer unit?
Strongly advised with: porcelain fuses, no residual current device, cables < 1.5 mm². Recommended: when installing EV charger of all-electric · . Inspectie door erkende monteur kost €95 en geeft NEN 1010-rapport voor de verzekering.
Electrical installation material in 2026
Our electrical category covers the complete spectrum: from complete consumer units and residual current devices to socket fronts and cables. NEN 1010-compliant for the certified installer, with the correct typing of Type A vs Type B residual current devices for modern all-electric installations.
Combine with
Combine a three-phase consumer unit with your EV charger of · voor een toekomstbestendige installatie. Plan voor de laadpaalgroep een Type B 30 mA aardlekschakelaar, of Type A als de laadpaal ingebouwde 6 mA DC-detectie heeft.
Own stock: ordered before 14:00, dispatched the same working day; catalogue items are supplied directly by our supplier. Shipping to EU countries from €14.95.
